Call for Associate Student (Grant Program)


Over the years, the VCO Network has been pleased with the participation and contribution of a number of students not ‘officially’ members of the VCO Network but who have taken part in its activities and initiatives. This grant program to support student attendance will strengthen the continuation of this mutually beneficial collaboration and also aim to welcome new students to get in  contact with the open research community of the VCO Network. Indeed, the VCO Network aims to be inclusive with the whole research community in the field of VCO applied to forest bioeconomy networks.


Objective


A grant program to support students not funded by the VCO Network to take part in VCO Network activities, mainly the Summer School, workshops and FIBRE activities.


Budget

An amount of $25,000 is budgeted for the period from March 2013 to April 2015.


Instructions – A two-phase application process


Eligible students should first apply to obtain recognition as "Associate Student" and be informed about the VCO Network’s upcoming activities. For activities involving travelling expenses, a funding program will be proposed and Associate students will be invited to apply in a second step.


First phase
: application for registration as an Associate student in the VCO Network


  • Project should be complementary/relevant to the VCO Network.
  • Open to MSc, PhD or PDF students not funded by the VCO Network.
  • Project should be conducted in a Canadian university.
  • Student should apply using the submission form (click to download the proposal in a WORD document).
  • Student application will be evaluated by the Scientific Director and the Associated Scientific Director of the VCO Network.
  • Once you become an Associate student, you are committed to making a report once a year (in December) by means of a short summary (up to two pages) about the progress of your research project during the year, including scientific publications & communications and, if any, collaboration with non-academic partner(s). This short summary will be kept confidential (i.e. only the Scientific Director, Associated Scientific Director and administrative staff of the VCO Network will have access to it) and will support the continuity of your recognition as an "Associate Student".



Second phase
: application on the funding program for Associate students’ attendance to a VCO Network activity


Associate student will be informed by email about upcoming VCO Network activities. For activities involving travelling expenses, a funding program for Associate students’ attendance will be proposed and Associate students will be invited to apply.
